at first, you read this blurb and you think “hmmm, well I better start pinching pennies if I want that new iPhone 5” (or whatever your phone of choice is)… but then all of the sudden it hits you:

why the fuck is “Inner Mongolia” in China? And where is Outer Mongolia? These are among the great mysteries of our time.

Just kidding: according to Wikipedia (source of all true information, regardless of factual accuracy), Inner Mongolia is in China because China said so back in the Qing Dynasty (1600’s or thereabout). Outer Mongolia is real Mongolia plus some stuff in Russia, and is Outer Mongolia also because China said so. Obviously.

I suspect (although I haven’t seen it yet written anywhere nor added to Wikipedia myself to inscribe it as TRUTH) that Outer Mongolia is anything on one side of the Great Wall of China, and Inner Mongolia is anything on the other side. Which side is which depends on if it’s a leap year or not.
